Judy likes to say that she is the keeper of the key to success. She found it, she used it and she knows it works. Her many clients would agree. Finding resolution, relief and a renewed sense of personal control, guarantees them an opportunity to rediscover peace of mind, and complete freedom. Since founding Addiction Alternatives in 2002, Judy has redefined the concept of addiction treatment.
She delivers comprehensive, private, non 12-Step addiction therapy with a solid, one to one focus on the individual. Business people and professionals appreciate her unqualified attention to detail and personal services - immediate access, flexible appointments, one-to-one therapy and support seven days a week during normal business hours, to name a few - that are the trademark of Addiction Alternatives.
Helping clients resolve the pain and suffering of an addictive disorder that is destroying their lives, health and relationships is Judy’s passion. She waged her own war on addiction and understands the helpless desperation people feel when struggling to overcome destructive behaviours.
Judy’s success in working with clients flows directly from her 30 years of experience in the education and human services fields. She has been an active participant in community services as a group leader, facilitator and teacher. Judy volunteered as a Withdrawal Management recovery support-professional for those battling advanced addiction. She has also served as volunteer office personnel for London’s Abused Women’s Centre. As an internationally certified addictions therapist, Judy is ideally qualified to help people identify their needs and reach their goals. She is certified by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation. Judy is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and McMaster University.
Judy’s work has been published in the London Free Press. She is currently conducting research for her upcoming book on fulfilling one’s potential to the max after battling addiction.
Judy’s life today is one she delights in sharing with her husband Paul and Maddie, their mischievous Yorkie terrier. Judy’s extended family – Paul’s kids and their kids keep life interesting, fun and ever changing. Their six grandchildren share Gran’s passion for sweet and gooey treats. Granddaughters Claire and Brooke have fondly crowned Judy “ The Queen of Chocolate”. Grandsons Zach, Jonny, Ty and Paxton are full of smiles, fun, and exhausting energy.
Experience is a wonderful teacher. Since the beginning of her own journey through addiction and beyond, Judy has learned that the value of each of us is not something earned. It is not what you are, what you have or what your've done in life, it's who you are - it's simply that you exist in your uniqueness. Recognize the gift of your life and heal that parts hurting you and those you care about. Celebrate your uniqueness and demand solutions that respect who, not what, you are.
One of Judy’s favourite sayings is “Gratitude is Everything -Savor the Gift of Today.” Remember the gift and live it with an abundant heart.

“Because I have done some counseling in the past I am in a position to appreciate more keenly the level of skill Judy exhibits as a counseling therapist. She is patient, kind, and listens carefully, and is able to provide the empathy so helpful for the client/person seeking solutions for their behavioural problems. Her approach is creative, so she presents outside-the-box ideas which are powerful and appealing.” August 8, 2010
